I'm participating in Saturday Centus, hosted by Jenny Matlock.
Each week we are provided a writing prompt and charged with the task of using that prompt and an additional 100 words to create a short, short, short story. It's an exercise in using your imagination and having a good time.
My entry follows. I went with the first thing that came to mind. :) This week's prompt is in blue:
Disorganization was the bane of my existence. Sure, I’d read magazine articles and could recite the simple rules to ‘organized bliss’ by heart; heck, my best friend was a second Martha Stewart! Nothing seemed to help.
Today was going to change all that! My home office was where I was going to start following this quick errand. After all, I had to get what I knew I needed to do the job right.
I found what I was looking for, grabbed it and then hesitated for a moment about my selection. A salesperson approached.
"Are you sure that's the one you want?"
I felt a little lump in my throat as I peered down at my choice, held tightly in my hand. I didn't think this would be so nerve-wracking. Was I making the wrong decision? I couldn't agonize over this any longer.
I took a deep breath before managing to say, "... Yes, it is."
