Every holiday brought forth a new poetic greeting from her to all her loved ones. Today, in her honor, I'm featuring her Valentine greeting from 2006. All of her writings, like mine, have been copyrighted by the Library of Congress.

The snow lies wet and cold and still
so far from you, atop our hill.

There's no thought here of flowering,
or of soft showers spring will bring.

The bulbs are dozing, buried deep.
The shrubs and trees are all asleep,

unless, of course, they're evergreen,
the only color to be seen.

We're in the midst of winter's show,
but we've grown sick and tired of snow,

runny noses, coughs and sneezes;
how we long for warming breezes,

a slight time out from routine life...
from hustle, hassle, stress and strife,

or things we view as dull and gray.
That's why we welcome Valentine's Day,

the day when we bring on the love,
bring on the hugs and change thereof,

bring on the kisses, real or candy.
Drinks and roses come in handy.
Bring on your heart. Have one on us.
Have two, have three; no muss, no fuss.

Whate'er you do, do it your way,
and have a splendid Valentine's Day!
